Rumors about General Motors intentions to release an all-terrain vehicle under the Cadillac brand were leaking to the press back in the early 90s. But year after year no appreciable steps followed. And now – it happened. In 1999 the full-size Cadillac Escalade made its debut. It is not simple to translate the name of the car. The word “escalade” in Russian is outdated, not having had time to get accustomed. In meaning – it is an assault on the fortress wall using ladders.

The basis for this car was the Chevrolet Tahoe (aka GMC Yucon/Denali). Exterior has been slightly ennobled, decorated with Cadillac’s “bijouterie” and hung up the world-famous emblem. Designers have achieved quite good results – the classical “Cadillac” shape false radiator grill and traditional for the company models five-spoke wheels gave the car a new image, but inside the Escalade belonging to the “higher caste” was felt even more. In the interior decoration is dominated by light-colored leather and wood, and the rear passengers, as in the cars of executive class, it is possible to manage all the functions of the audio system.
