In standard equipment Cherato includes 15-inch wheels, six airbags, ABS, air conditioning, an audio system with MP3 support, USB-port, six speakers, Bluetooth and Hands Free, as well as a number of other equipment. More expensive versions include a button to start the engine, chip key, heated seats, leather interior, 17-inch wheels and so on.

Under the hood of KIA Cerato installed 1.6-liter gasoline engine family Gamma with direct fuel injection (GDI) and a capacity of 140 hp. It can be coupled with a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-band automatic transmission. For the sake of reducing fuel consumption in some configurations Cerato is equipped with innovative eco-technology.

In the U.S. the KIA Cerato is sold under the name Forte, and in Korea the sedan is known under the index K3. The car is produced at the KIA plant in the South Korean city of Hwasung.
