2012 Volkswagen Beetle Owner's Manual

High developing power, high torque which guarantees fast car acceleration, low fuel consumption and low toxic emission rate determining the environmental load in combination with minimum noise level – these are the advantages of a modern engine which ideally should appear simultaneously. A real example of such a combination of virtues is the power units of the Volkswagen New Beetle.

Their range includes five gasoline engines with capacities from 75 hp to 170 hp, and two turbodiesels with capacities of 90 hp and 100 hp.

All engines fitted to the New Beetle (except for the 1.9 liter TDI® 8 V (60 kW 90 hp)) come standard with a 5-speed transmission. Vehicles equipped with gasoline engines 1.6 L 8V 75 kW (102 hp), 2.0 L 8V 85 kW (115 hp), 1.8 L 20V 110 kW (150 hp) can be optionally supplied with a four-speed automatic transmission.
