2013 Kia Rio Owner's Manual

Nothing has changed from the technical point of view. Kia Rio, as before, is constructed on front-wheel drive platform with McPherson struts in front suspension and torsion bar behind. As it should be by European standards, the hatchback is equipped with airbags (six in this case) and dynamic stabilization system.

Under the hood of KIA Rio Hatchback can be installed one of two gasoline engines. The first, the 1.2-liter Kappa, delivers 85 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque. The second, 1.4-liter Gamma, has 105 horsepower and 135 Nm of torque. The engines can be combined with both manual and automatic transmissions. For the sake of reducing fuel consumption, the hatchback is equipped with a Start-Stop system.

Depending on the market, the KIA Rio engine range has its own features. For example, under the hood of the hatchback there is a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, producing 138 hp of power at 6,300 rpm and 166 Nm of torque available at 4,850 rpm. In other countries, the car can be equipped with a 1.2 liter 85 hp (120 Nm) engine in particular, as well as a 1.4 liter engine producing 102 hp of power and 135 Nm of torque. For the sake of reducing the amount of fuel consumed, the Rio is equipped with a system “Start-Stop”. As a result, the minimum consumption for the car per 100 kilometers on the mixed cycle is a little more than three liters, and the maximum is less than five liters.
