The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid is powered by the Hybrid Synergy Drive, which consists of a 1.8-liter gasoline four rated at 99 horsepower, working on the Atkinson cycle, and an 82-horsepower electric motor. In the combined cycle, the car consumes less than three liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, using as a transmission ECVT variator with planetary gears.
