The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid is a C-class hatchback. The model, based on the third-generation Prius Hybrid hatchback, made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2011.

Before declaring the Prius Plug-in Hybrid ready for mass production, Toyota conducted extensive testing on the car, preparing 600 test units, which covered a huge number of kilometers on the roads of Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan, China, Australia and New Zealand over the past two years. This version of the car differs minimally from the usual Prius, but all the changes the engineers have made are extremely important.
