In USA, Toyota RAV4 is officially on sale with two types of petrol engines. For the version with a short base a 2-liter 158-horsepower unit with the system Valvematic is available. With the 6-speed manual transmission it consumes 7.7 liters per 100 kilometers in the mixed cycle, and with the Multidrive S variator – 7.6 liters. It takes the crossover 11 seconds to accelerate to 100 km/h, and the maximum available speed is 185 km/h.
A 2.2-liter engine with electronic system of valve opening-closing timing VVT-i is available for RAW4 with a long base. It works in conjunction with a 4-speed automatic transmission, developing 170 horsepower at 6000 rpm, “eating” 9.9 liters of gasoline per 100 kilometers.
Production of Toyota RAV4 for the European market is set up at Tahara and Obu plants in Aichi prefecture, Japan.
