2019 Toyota Avensis Owner's Manual
The Toyota Avensis is a front-wheel-drive sedan of the D class. The restyled version of the third-generation model made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2015.
Many days and nights Toyota designers spent behind computers and graphic tablets to properly camouflage the restyled image of the Avensis. Frankly, it wasn’t outstanding. And, quite possibly, characterless, dull appearance became one of the reasons of interest falling to the model. But there’s nothing to change globally at this stage, so the Japanese did what they could – completely redesigned the front end, including the hood and fenders, and changed the bumper, lights and trunk lid from behind. Only the profile with the original line of windows and triangular windows on the front doors can draw parallels with the restyled version.
Of course, really successful restyling can’t take place without a big revision of the engine range. First of all Japanese undertook diesel units having removed from under the hood of Avensis supercharged “four” with working volume of 2 and 2,2 liters, giving 126 and 150-177 hp of capacity. However, if the 2.2 liter engine has been optimized, increasing power to 143 “horses” (320 Nm) with the preservation of an acceptable fuel consumption (4.5 liters per 100 kilometers), the 2.2-liter has disappeared completely, and in its place came a 1.6-liter with 112 hp of power and 270 Nm of torque, consuming on average 4.1 liters of diesel per one hundred miles. That, in part, became possible due to the reduction of the weight of the units.
