The fifth generation Esсalade received a redesigned platform: although the basis for SUV remained a frame design, behind instead of uncut axle is independent multilever suspension. What positively affected not only the behavior of the car on the road, but also the amount of space inside (it is possible to lower the floor below). As before, the model is available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive versions (and in both cases the car is equipped with a mechanical self-locking rear, in the second – the lowered row). The main power plant is the refined 6.2-liter V8 with direct injection, variable valve timing system and cylinder deactivation (up to the work of two) at low loads, it produces 426 hp and 623 Nm of torque. For the first time, the Duramax diesel unit is offered as an alternative: The 3.0-liter inline turbo six makes 281 hp and 623 Nm of torque. Both engines are completed with a ten-speed automatic.
