However, despite the visual differences, technically the truck is still a “blood” relative of the Silverado. In fact, like the latter it moved to a new T1 platform, instead of the old K2, as a result of which its wheelbase grew by 100 mm, the distance between the first and second rows increased by 40 mm, and the cargo area became roomier. Despite such an increase, the truck is not so much heavier, but even lost 200 pounds. This result was achieved thanks to a new frame and aluminum body parts: doors, hood, fenders and rear end. And what really distinguishes the Sierra is its unique options. One of them is the carbon fiber cargo platform, which is not only 28 kg lighter than the base steel, but also better scratch-resistant and corrosion-free. Another distinguishing feature from the Silverado is the MultiPro tailgate with a hinged section, from which a step can extend as a result.
