Speaking about Optima in numbers, the fourth generation became 10 mm longer (4855), 25 mm wider (1860) and 10 mm higher (1465). An inch more and added a wheelbase, stretching up to 2805 mm, thanks to which, in particular, was able to add leg room for rear passengers. And in general, the interior became a little more in width and height, and aerodynamic efficiency of the sedan improved by reducing the drag coefficient from 0.3 to 0.29. And another figure – the volume of the luggage compartment has increased from 505 to 510 liters.
As for the chassis, the Kia Optima, in addition to upgraded suspension, also received optional adaptive shock absorbers, which parameters depend directly on the readings of accelerometers in the front wheels and engine control unit, as well as the position of the steering wheel and accelerator pedal.
There are two units in KIA Optima’s European engine lineup – the 1.7-liter CRDi diesel giving 141 hp of power and 340 Nm of torque, and the 2-liter CVVL petrol with 163 “horses” and 196 Nm. The first unit is combined with a 6-speed manual or 7-band “robot” with two clutches, while the second engine has a choice of a six-speed manual or six-band “automatic”.
