2020 Mini Cooper Convertible Owner's Manual
In transforming from a hatchback to a convertible (which took engineers two years since the global debut of this generation of the model), the MINI Cooper got its own suspension settings, a stiffer body, a neatly integrated protection system behind the seats that shoots out when the car rolls over. LED headlights and a projection display are included, and the multimedia system has expanded its functionality. This includes the MINI Connected App, which warns the driver when rain is approaching.
Under the hood of MINI Cooper Convertible hides a three-cylinder petrol engine with a working volume of 1.5 liters, giving 136 hp of power, or a similar in volume 116-hp diesel unit with turbo-charging (270 Nm of torque). In the first case, the convertible accelerates to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds, in the second – for 9.9 seconds, which is slightly more than the same hatchback, but this is due to the fact that the open version is heavier because of the need to strengthen the body structure.
Regardless of the version, the hatchback is equipped with the “Start-Stop” system, but there are several gearboxes to choose from – 6-speed manual and “automatic” with the same number of gears.
