2021 Mazda 3 Owner's Manual

In the fourth-generation Mazda 3 sedan, designers decided to make the most of a new, more mature round of their signature “Kodo” concept, which is the embodiment of the whole essence of Japanese aesthetics. They literally removed all the unnecessary elements overloading the image, leaving the play of light and shadow intertwined with smooth and soft lines. At the same time, despite the pronounced resemblance to the hatchback, the sedan looks more solid and elegant.

Well, about the main thing. Skyactiv-X is a 2-liter gasoline engine with a drive supercharger, high compression ratio (15:1), incredible fuel pressure of as much as 1000 bar and a new technology Spark Plug Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI), which literally means compression ignition controlled by spark ignition. In a nutshell, such engine should please with good dynamics and at the same time negligibly low consumption. However, the manufacturer is not in a hurry to reveal these figures. But the efficiency of such “engine” is already known – 181 hp and 222 Nm, and such values have impressed far not many people. But it is too early to make conclusions – its effectiveness will show in practice. For the fans of the “time-tested” under the hood of the truck the old power plants of Skyactiv-G (gasoline) and Skyactive-D (diesel) families are still preserved. As before, there are two transmissions to choose from: six-speed manual or classic torque converter with the same number of steps.
