But the main innovations are technical improvements. Restyling Toyota Highlander has received a new power-unit in volume of 3.5 liters and a new eight-speed “automatic” which has replaced a six-speed gearbox. The new gasoline V6 is equipped with a modern dual fuel injection system D-4S and has a large power output, which is 295 hp and 357 Newton-meters. It will run only in conjunction with the new Direct Shift automatic transmission of classical design. At the same time the 2.7 engine with 185 hp remains in service and will continue to work with the old 6-speed “automatic transmission”.

One more technical highlight of the updated Highlander became a package of safety systems Toyota Safety Sense. It is the base equipment. Electronic assistants will supervise observance of a lane, will monitor “blind” zones while changing, can recognize pedestrians on the road, automatically switch from a high beam to a low beam, will maintain safe distance to a car in front and warn the driver about tiredness.
