2023 Volkswagen Golf Owner's Manual

The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack is an all-wheel-drive C-class station wagon. The show of the upgraded version, based on the seventh generation of the VW Golf, took place at the New York Auto Show in April 2017.
The manufacturer is positioning the Alltrack as the top version of the standard Variant station wagon (or SportwagΠ΅n in the U.S. market), giving it an “intermediate” status between classic sedans and crossovers. For this purpose, the “off-road” Golf has been endowed with features of both classes. Mandatory attribute of the model are fog lights and a grid in the air intake area instead of horizontal plastic. The front and rear bumper, moldings and wheel arches feature unpainted plastic inserts, there are also gray inserts. Obligatory attribute of the “stern” is a double exhaust system spigot (the cars for the American market have two separate spigots).
All this external “crossover” arsenal would be useless without the increased ground clearance Golf (the official data on the American version – 175 mm on the wheels with a diameter of 17 inches) and the 4Motion full drive system with additional settings. In basic conditions the car is front-wheel drive, but depending on road conditions the fifth generation Haldex muff can transfer up to 50% of torque to the rear axle. The off-road capability is enhanced with electronic differential locks, which brakes the wheel that slips. The car is also equipped with an assistant when descending and optional Dynamic Chassis Control system with a choice of driving modes, among which – Off-road mode (changes to the response of the accelerator pedal, stabilization system settings).
