2011 Volkswagen Tiguan Owner's Manual

As already noted, the Tiguan is the first SUV in the world to have a supercharged engine in all versions. The advantage of a supercharged engine is higher power, lower fuel consumption and emissions. Consider the example of gasoline engines. Three new TSI engines will be offered – direct injection turbocharged or turbocharged plus compressor supercharged engines. The four cylinders deliver 110 kW / 150 hp, 125 kW / 170 hp and 147 kW / 200 hp. Let’s take a look at the diesel engine example. Here, a completely redesigned generation of significantly quieter four-cylinder engines with a common fuel line is used. The two TDI engines deliver 103 kW / 140 hp and 125 kW / 170 hp and meet the Euro-5 emissions standard.
