2022 Mini Hardtop Owner's Manual

The MINI Hatchback 3D is a front-wheel drive Class “B” hatchback. The second restyling of the third generation of the model. The model premiered on January 27, 2021.

Instead of launching the fourth generation of the universally recognized hatchback, the company decided to modernize the third generation, shown back in 2013 (and already experienced one restyling).

Changes in appearance have touched the branded grille (increased in size), bumpers (front, for example, has lost fog lights, the functionality of which passed into the headlights), headlight (in standard equipment internal body optics is made in black, the headlights themselves – diode). Rear lights already in the basic equipment have Union Jack pattern In addition, the roof, which could previously be ordered in contrasting colors, is now available in gradient design (Multitone Roof), where the three colors alternate with each other.

Restyled Hatchback 5D can be distinguished by a black enlarged frame of the air intake, headlights with black interior (diode and the initial version) and redrawn bumpers (the front has lost fog lights, whose function is now performed by headlights).

As before, the appearance of hatchback lends itself to large-scale customization: you can choose not only one of the four styling-packages (JCW, Essential, Classic, MINI Yours), but also the drawing of disks (size 16-18), the color of the roof (after restyling appeared three-color option with a gradient transition) and the type of stripes on the hood.

Inside the large-scale changes are not found, they lie in the details: modified steering wheel, redrawn vents, another form of automatic selector, as well as touch buttons in the branded round multimedia block – previously there were hard-buttons. An 8.8-inch touchscreen display is the basic equipment, but a 5-inch instead of analog scales is already at a surcharge.

The powertrain range of the five-door MINI is now empty of diesel variants – only the supercharged 1.5-litre (B38, three cylinders) and 2.0-litre (B48) petrol engines are available. The B38 has boosts of 75 hp, 102 hp and 136 hp. The B48 produces 178 hp (Cooper S version). You can equip each of the motors, except for the base, with both six-speed “manual” and seven-speed robotized transmission with two clutches. Drive is front-wheel drive only.

As before, the suspension for the hatchback is MacPherson struts in front and an independent scheme with four levers behind (and regardless of the output of the motor). For an additional fee now available adaptive shock absorbers, capable of reducing damping force up to 50% (available only with 136- and 178-horsepower motors).

The list of equipment available for the MINI Hatchback 5D includes matrix headlights, a panoramic roof, an electronic assistant package (adaptive cruise control with Stop and Go function, obstacle recognition, road sign reading, switchover from high beam to low beam), projection display, parking sensors, rearview camera, heated steering wheel and front seats, dual-zone climate control, navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless smartphone charging, and a 360-watt Harman Kardon audio system.
