GMC Canyon has three gasoline engines: a 4-cylinder 2.9 liter engine with 185 hp and 258 Nm of torque, an in-line 3.7 liter “five” with 242 hp and 328 Nm, and a 5.3 liter V8, capable of 300 hp and 434 Nm of torque. The future owner of a pickup can choose a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-band automatic transmission to pair the two engines.

The GMC Canyon is produced at General Motors plants in the U.S., Thailand and Brazil.

The GMC Canyon Extended Cab is a mid-size pickup truck with front- or all-wheel drive, built on the General Motors GMT 355 platform. Production of the first generation model began in 2004.
