The important technical innovation of Toyota Highlux was the fact that even mono-drive version is now based on all-wheel drive chassis, which allows leaving 292 mm clearance unchanged, regardless of the type of drive. The pickup comes with ABS as standard equipment, and optional stability control, brake force distribution, and power emergency brakes are available.

Under the hood of Toyota Hilux Single Cab can be equipped with one of two 4-cylinder turbodiesel engines – 2.5-liter 144 hp or 3-liter 171 hp. The smaller engine consumes 7.3 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers, emitting 193 g/km of pollutants, which meets Euro-5 standard. 2.5-liter engine is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission and 3-liter – with a 5-band automatic.
