2019 Kia Niro Hybrid Owner's Manual
The KIA Niro Hybrid is a K1-class crossover with a hybrid powertrain. The model made its world premiere at the Chicago Auto Show in January 2016.
The path of the Niro Hybrid from concept to production version stretched for two years, but in the end, the Koreans brought the idea to an end. Or rather, not only Koreans, because the American division of the company worked on the project as well. Europeans KIA did not attract, however, on the market of the Old World the crossover also got. By the way, this is the first hybrid crossover in the history of the brand.
Hybrid Niro’s design is based on KIA’s signature styling, embodied by the famous Peter Schreyer. The designers themselves characterize the appearance of the crossover as athletic, which is emphasized by LED lights and relief wheel arches. As for the interior, there are no revolutions in it, but the interior is well-designed. The word “well” can be applied to quality of trimming materials and equipment. Of course, the car is equipped with a full set of modern security systems, but the multimedia complex with a 7-inch display and support of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functions deserves attention. In addition, the car is equipped with a system that can tell the driver when to accelerate and how to brake, to achieve low fuel consumption, which is very important for a hybrid.
By the way, the driving force behind the KIA Niro Hybrid is a 1.6-liter gasoline four, an electric motor and a 1.56 kWh lithium-ion battery. The total output of such installation is 148 hp. The average fuel consumption per 100 kilometers travel is announced by the manufacturer at the level of 4.7 liters.
And a few more important technical points. At the heart of the KIA Niro is the same platform that was used to create a hybrid model related brand – Hyundai Ioniq. As for the overall dimensions, the length of the car is 4355 mm, width is 1800 mm, and height is 1535 mm.
