2022 Kia Niro Hybrid Owner's Manual

The novelty has significantly increased in size compared to its predecessor: the length is 4420 mm, width – 1825 mm, height – 1545 mm and wheelbase – 2720 mm, that is, by 65 mm, 20 mm, 10 mm and 20 mm respectively. As a result, the passengers of the second generation Niro should be cozier and more comfortable.
Niro is powered by a petrol 1.6-liter four with a capacity of 105 hp and 144 Nm, which is assisted by a 44-horsepower electric motor built into a 6-speed “robot”. The total power is 141 hp – the same as the previous crossover, but the hybrid system now consumes less fuel (4.8 liters). The capacity is 1.32 kilowatt-hours.
But there is also a Plug-in version. “Rozetochnik” is equipped with a 1.6-liter internal combustion engine with 105 hp and 144 Nm, but, as in the case of Niro Hybrid, it is a unit from the new Smartstream family. The output of the electric motor has been increased from 61 to 84 hp, resulting in a total power increase from 141 to 183 hp.
Reverse is now provided exclusively by the electric motor. Six-stage “robot” Niro PHEV was deprived of reverse gear, which allowed to reduce weight by 2.3 kg. As a result, the traction battery capacity increased from 8.9 to 11.1 kWh, and the range in electric mode – from 49 to 65 km on the WLTP cycle.
